COLFUTURO Year Book of Selected Candidates 2019

Under the leadership of Ana Milena Muñoz de Gaviria, the Fundación para el Futuro de Colombia (COLFUTURO) (in English: the Foundation for the Future of Colombia) was established in 1991, thanks to the initiative of a group of wealthy citizens of the public and private sectors, committed with the development of the country through its human capital. COLFUTURO has consolidated in Colombia as a leading institution in the financing of postgraduate studies abroad. Its model has been successfully copied, with the direct and committed support of the Foundation, in Guatemala with Guatefuturo, Honduras, with Hondufuturo and in Mexico with Educafin and Funed. Since 2011, COLFUTURO started offering to third-party institutions its experience in financial management of external programs and in the development of a robust and complete technological platform that enables the administration of summoning and selection processes, program-rating, student management, cash disbursements and educational support project collection management. The Sponsor-credit Program (PCB for its acronym in Spanish) has disbursed, until class of 2018, USD 327 million, and has USD 20million yet to be disbursed. During this promotion stage, USD 55 million will be granted as aids, for a total USD 402 million in aids for its beneficiaries. In addition, it has committed USD 157 million in debt relief, fromwhich USD 13 million correspond to COLFUTURO funds and USD 144 million are Colciencias funds.
