Talent Incubator Program (PST) Designed and launched in 2007, the Talent Incubator Program (PST) provides free support for up to three years to senior undergraduate students, recent graduates (within four years of graduation), or faculty members with academic excellence from all regions of Colombia, from public and private universities alike, when they search for, prepare for, and apply to master’s or doctoral programs at the world’s top universities. Each year, talented candidates are identified through three application rounds, which establish the rules for a rigorous selection process focused on the candidate’s academic excellence and leadership qualities; in addition, criteria such as the weighted grade point average, class rank during undergraduate studies, as well as academic merits and recognitions are also considered. Currently, the PST has 1,941 active participants, 508 of whom are part of special groups, such as FDC Proimágenes, Grupo de Energía, Sura, Universidad del Rosario, Universidad Externado, Cotecmar, and Universidad de la Sabana. In 2025, 80% of the participants took part in activities designed to strengthen their skills and achieve their academic goals. As a result of COLFUTURO’s experience—gained over the past 35 years supporting Colombian professionals pursuing graduate studies abroad—we have identified the main barriers faced by the country’s most outstanding applicants: lack of proficiency in a second language, lack of knowledge about how to choose a university of academic excellence, and the misconception that it is impossible to finance studies abroad. The PST addresses these challenges through comprehensive support that includes workshops, personalized counseling, essay reviews, and academic guidance. Throughout 2025, 1,284 individual applications were processed, and 130 activities were held nationwide, including workshops and personalized counseling sessions, among others. Last year, 300 program participants were admitted to foreign universities, of whom 180 were selected through the Loan Scholarship Program (PCB) call for applications, representing 14.7% of all selected candidates. Some 10.8% of the “incubators” belonged to ethnic minorities, including 168 Afro- Colombians, 30 Indigenous people, 7 grassroot, 1 person from Palenque, and 4 who identified as members of other ethnic communities. The program remains committed to strengthening key fields, such as Engineering, Health Sciences, Basic Sciences, Economics, Social Sciences, Education, the Arts, and Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Thirty-four percent of the newly admitted students come from public universities, such as Universidad Nacional, Universidad del Valle, Universidad de Antioquia, and the UIS. SELECTION YEARBOOK 2026 73
